Just uploading products without a clear plan won’t get you far. If you want real growth, you need a smart strategy to promote PLR digital products.
Secret #1: Building Backlinks the Right Way
Backlinks are crucial for any strategy to promote PLR products because they show search engines you are a trusted source. When keywords are highly competitive and attract lots of searches, you won’t rank high unless your site has plenty of strong backlinks.
Search engines like Google don’t care how many backlinks you have. They care about how strong and trustworthy those backlinks are.
For example, you might rank for a phrase like best PLR digital products to resell. But you won’t rank for something short and popular like digital products unless your site has a lot of authority, trust, and high-quality backlinks.
My Strategy for Getting Backlinks
I won’t lie, this isn’t a strategy I came up myself. A YouTube video inspired it because I love watching SEO tips.
Recently, I created some stock images for Christmas and autumn, and when I heard about that backlink method, I thought, “I need to try it.”
Basically, I create images in Ideogram, then go to Photoshop and heavily edit them, correcting the mistakes AI made to the best of my ability, as there are an insane number of them. After that, I decide which of the unused images I can give away for free, edit those again, and upload them to Pixabay.

Then I add a link to my website and kindly ask anyone who uses the images to give me credit:

Bonus Tips / Examples
Some people use a more aggressive method. They post hundreds of AI images, then do reverse image searches. If someone uses their image without credit (which most free stock sites don’t require), they often reach out politely and ask for a backlink.
I’m not going to do this because, as I mentioned, AI makes a lot of mistakes, which takes a lot of time to fix. So, bulk uploading is not for me. Using reverse image search and asking for credit isn’t a bad approach, but that’s not part of my strategy—at least not for now.
My Thoughts on Quality vs. Quantity in Backlinks
I believe in quality versus quantity. Both in getting the backlinks, posting images getting them, as well other parts of work.
If you get backlinks from poor sources, it won’t do you any good and may even make things worse.
Uploading a lot of images can help more people see your work, but if they find many AI mistakes, they are unlikely to download from you again and even less likely to buy.
Secret #2: Pinterest as a Traffic Engine
I have written some blog posts about Pinterest. I explain how to use it the right way and why digital product sellers should never ignore it. Now I want to share some new tips I am trying myself to promote PLR products.
First, let’s clear up a common mistake. Many believe running ads is necessary to get traffic from Pinterest nowadays, but that’s not true. Instead of spending on ads, what really matters is having a smart strategy.
A strategy for uploading pins, creating catchy headlines inside the pins, and… checking who is saving your pins!
Why haven’t I heard this advice before?! 😅
Check Who Is Saving Your Pins
Before, when someone saved my pin, I would just think, “Oh, nice.” Now, I still feel happy, but I also take a closer look.
By checking each person’s account, I can see what they like, save, and which interests they follow. Then, I adjust my marketing strategy to make my content more effective.
This simple trick helped me see how powerful Pinterest really is. The people saving my pins are the exact audience I want to reach. That means my content is working, and I can keep improving it to help even more people.
Bonus Tip: Make Pins People Want to Save
Let’s be honest. Digital products can be a good niche on Pinterest, but they are not the best. The top niches are things like home decor, nails, outfits, and other lifestyle topics.
Here’s what I do.
I’m part of the Amazon Influencer Program, so I make pins that include those popular niches (always with a disclosure, of course). This helps my account grow, even while I mainly post about digital products.
I also create pins on other popular topics. Examples include blog posts, wallpapers, lists like “10 blog post ideas,” digital product ideas, color palettes, and more. Such pins tend to get saved much more often.
Example:

Why does this matter?
The problem is that if you are posting pins in a small niche, those pins may get very few saves. This can signal to Pinterest that your account is not worth promoting. So, incorporating popular niches here and there boosts your account and shows Pinterest that your account is valuable.
This is a tactic I use, and you can (or should 🤭) try it too.
Secret #3: Using Reddit to Promote PLR Products
I’ll be honest—I’m not the best at using Reddit. But if you look at search results, you’ll often see posts from forums, which makes it important to learn, even if you don’t want to.
Posts on forums can get thousands of views in one day. Meanwhile, getting people to read your blog can take forever. I’m exaggerating a little, but there’s truth in that, still. Blogging takes time.
My Plan
First, my plan is to join subreddits that align with my niche, of course. Then, I’ll use an existing account with a history instead of creating a new one to avoid looking like a spammer.
Second, I’m planning to add links to my profile and possibly not even include them in the posts themselves. This is because, on Reddit, you have to be very careful; you could get banned if you don’t read the rules of a specific subreddit. Plus, people generally hate being sold to.
Third, give value, the same as I hope I’m giving here. 😄
Understanding User Behavior
Even when I think about this strategy, I remember how I use Reddit myself.
For instance, on Instagram, I rarely click links. Even if I see an ad I like, I first check the account. If I like what I see, I might visit their site, but even then, that is not often.
On Reddit, it’s different. I’ve clicked on links many times. Almost every time someone grabs my attention, I check their profile. If they have links there, I explore them too.🤫
Learning to use Reddit can be a game-changer for promoting PLR digital products or any digital product, really.
Still, you have to be extremely careful with Reddit to avoid getting banned. And, do not use those over-promising headlines like, “How I Got $10k in a Day Selling Digital Products.” When I see them, I cringe every time. 😑
Secret #4: Creating Share-Worthy Freebies
Believe it or not, freebies can help you earn backlinks, which is a great way to promote PLR products. They are also great for growing your email list. Once people join your list, you can teach them, build trust, and show them why they should buy from you.

Pinterest is also a channel where I promote my freebies.
Over time, I’ve learned that it takes real effort. Since people are used to getting free stuff, simply posting a freebie no longer guarantees sign-ups.
You need to check what your competition is doing. Study the market and see what kinds of freebies are actually working. Then create something that stands out and makes people want to join your list.
Secret #5: Blogging Is Not Dead
It’s funny how YouTube videos often claim that blogging is dead. These videos make it seem like you need a thousand marketing channels to succeed, but their real goal is simply to get clicks and earn ad revenue by using scarcity tactics.
Why Blogging Isn’t Dead
Let’s be real. Blogging is a little different now. People often use AI to answer their questions, but guess where the AI gets the answers? From the internet!
AI is reading your posts to give people an answer. If you have a direct answer with clear headings and expertise, you are more likely to be cited. And yes, AI bots like direct language. So if a post is about how to fix your marketing strategy, don’t start by writing about how marketing was invented.😅
Google also reads your blog. And to decide whether you’re worth promoting, Google needs to understand that you’re a real human and that you know what you’re talking about before showing you to the world. The only way for an AI to do this is to read your “About” pages, scan your social media, see where your brand is cited, check for backlinks, and read your blog posts.
A smart move to instantly boost credibility for both humans and AI is to include videos in your blog posts, as I’m doing right now:
Many readers are tired of AI content: fake Instagram accounts, fake images on Pinterest of home decor, and fake blog posts of product reviews. What better way to show your expertise and build trust with a human nowadays than by using a video?
If you decide to start a blog, you can use platforms like Substack or WordPress. Just remember to share your blog posts on social media, especially on Pinterest.
If the only search engine you decide to be on is Google, then yep, blogging is dead.
Otherwise, a slight strategy adjustment is enough for it to not be dead. And don’t blindly trust what you see in YouTube videos; they often exaggerate it too much.
Conclusion
These five secrets show that an effective strategy to promote PLR products involves a mix of different approaches:
- Focus on backlinks: Get a head start on your competition by building backlinks, especially for competitive keywords. A simple way to do this is to share free stock photos and ask for credit in return.
- Leverage Pinterest: Go beyond product pins and see who is saving your content and what else they like. This helps you better understand your audience.
- Use Reddit: Drive traffic by joining relevant subreddits, sharing valuable tips, and promoting your business in a subtle, helpful way.
- Offer high-quality freebies: Attract backlinks and grow your email list by creating valuable free resources that stand out.
- Don’t give up on blogging: While other marketers quit, you can stand out by creating great content that gets noticed by search engines and AI tools. Use Pinterest to further expand your blog’s reach.
That’s everything I wanted to share this week. I hope you find it useful.
Have a wonderful day! ✨
P.S.
If there’s one thing to take from this post, it’s this: don’t do things for money, fame, or selfish gain—do them with people in mind. Everything else will follow. 😊
Sending you big hugs,
Gabi. <3
